Under Pressure from 'Grey Wolves', Armenian Genocide Memorial to be Dismantled in Germany: Welt
The mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, has decided to dismantle the Armenian Genocide memorial under pressure from the Turkish extremist organization 'Grey Wolves'. This was reported by the German broadcaster Welt. It is mentioned that in a few years, a monument 'Against Racism and for Human Rights' will be erected at the site of the Armenian memorial.
“The extremists, who are more commonly known as the 'Grey Wolves', have always been active in the Cologne major initiative of genocide deniers. Now they have achieved their goal—that the genocide will not be remembered if it was perpetrated by Turks,” wrote Welt.
The station also noted that the local Armenian community has been fighting against such a decision for over a year.
