British Honorary Consul Abducted in Ecuador

Colin Armstrong, the Honorary Consul of Great Britain, has been abducted in Guayaquil, Ecuador. This was reported by the El Universo newspaper.

According to journalists, the incident took place early in the morning of December 16 in Ecuador's Los Rios province. In response, the Ecuadorian police announced that specialized units are conducting investigative measures in connection with the alleged crime.

The newspaper reports that another individual was also abducted along with the consul. The United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has stated that they are in contact with the authorities following the Briton's disappearance, but they have not confirmed his identity or the possible location of the crime.

It is worth noting that on August 9, presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio was killed in Ecuador. The politician was shot three times in the head during a rally in Quito. A state of emergency had been declared in the country.
