Kuwait's Emir Has Died: Who Will Succeed Him
The Emir of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, has passed away at the age of 86. This was announced by the Minister of the Emir's Office, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, during a broadcast on Kuwaiti state television, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"We mourn the death of Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who departed this life on Saturday," said the minister.
It was previously reported that the Kuwaiti government has proclaimed the 83-year-old crown prince, Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as the new emir following the death of his older brother, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
At the end of November, it was reported that the emir had been hospitalized due to health issues.
