Deputy Mayor Expands Home Entrance at Sidewalk's Expense
Construction is underway in the Erebuni administrative district of Yerevan, characterized by design deviations. An entrance and concrete columns are being built on the sidewalk of Maharu Street. ‘Hetq’ has revealed that the architect behind this project is Petros Sargsyan, the deputy head of the Erebuni administrative district.
At 39/6 Maharu Street, adjacent to the Erebuni Museum, construction is ongoing. A two-story private house is having two entrances created next to a multi-family building, featuring a concrete-based entrance and a columned fence. Both the entrance and columns facing Maharu Street are being constructed directly on the sidewalk.
No construction notice is present on the site, the area is not cordoned off, and there is also a lack of nets to prevent dust dispersion.
The private house belongs to the mother of Petros Sargsyan, Hasmik Petikyan, by right of ownership. Petros Sargsyan has been involved in community positions since 2020, starting as a first-class specialist in the city hall’s department of trade and services for two years before being appointed deputy head of the administrative district.
Upon examining the construction documents for Maharu Street, it becomes clear that in September 2023, the deputy mayor's mother received permit approval from the city hall for the reconstruction of the house. According to the project documents, a vestibule was meant to be constructed at the site of the existing staircase and steps. However, during construction, the vestibule transformed into an entrance, and concrete columns have been erected on the adjacent sidewalk.
