Some Migrants Stripped of Citizenship in Russia: Reasons Revealed

Two residents of the Chelyabinsk region have been stripped of their Russian citizenship for failing to register for military service and serve in the army. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the agency, the former residents of the near-abroad not only failed to comply with the provisions of the Federal Law on Military Duty but also submitted false information to avoid military service. As a result, the Chelyabinsk Central Court decided to revoke the defendants' Russian citizenship.

Subsequently, the men appealed to the Chelyabinsk Regional Court, but their appeal was rejected. It remains unclear when and where the former Russians will be deported.

Meanwhile, in St. Petersburg, the former head of the regional migration department has been arrested, accused of illegally legalizing 100,000 migrants. The involvement of the head of the migration department in the illegal legalization of migrants has been established by internal security staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and their counterparts from the regional federal security service.
