VIDEO: Illegal Fishing Incidents Uncovered

The Water Police Service operates in a 24-hour regime, and as a result of heightened service, illegal fishing incidents were uncovered on December 12. This information was provided by the Armenian Police.

At around 10:30 AM, a vehicle loaded with approximately 250 illegally caught carp was discovered in the vicinity of the village of Lichk in the Gegharkunik region.

On the same day, at 11:40 AM, another vehicle containing about 20 illegally caught carp was found near the village of Norakert in Gegharkunik.

Two individuals were arrested and taken to local police departments.

Authorities urge compliance with the fishing prohibition during the spawning season of carp in Lake Sevan and to operate strictly within the law.
