Ministry of Internal Affairs Provides Details on Incident Involving Blogger Yulia Fines
Armenia is a state governed by law, and any illegal act must receive an assessment with appropriate consequences, strictly within the legal framework. This was stated by the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, in an interview with Armenpress, addressing an incident that occurred days ago in Yerevan.
“On December 9, an incident occurred between a foreigner and four unidentified individuals, who, according to their assessment, physically assaulted a woman, humiliated her, and cut her hair for allegedly anti-social behavior,” the press secretary said.
“As a result of operational-search measures and investigative actions undertaken by the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee, three of the aforementioned individuals have been located and presented to the prosecuting authority and arrested. Measures are underway to locate the fourth person,” he added, emphasizing that any self-justice, vendetta, or vigilante act is similarly illegal and deserves equivalent legal evaluation and consequences.
“We urge citizens to refrain from displaying any form of self-activity in such cases and to seek the assistance of law enforcement agencies in preventing and mitigating incidents,” Narek Sargsyan stressed.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported that based on a citizen's call made on December 9, 2023, at 00:23, actions were taken to clarify that Russian citizens K.A. and Y.M. displayed contempt for societal norms and an open disregard for moral standards between the hours of 22:00 and 23:30 on December 8.
