Photos: Grave Found Vandalized Day After Funeral; Flowers and Wreaths Stolen

Days after the death of Ashot Mkrtchyan, his family discovered that his grave was vandalized the day after the funeral, with 29 wreaths and several dozen bouquets stolen. This information comes from Hetq.

The burial took place at the Shengavit cemetery known as “Karmir Blur.” A. Mkrtchyan's sister, Dustrik Mkrtchyan, told the media that they experienced double grief when they visited their brother's grave and saw it vandalized. Only the leaves and broken parts of the flowers remained in the area.

Dustrik Mkrtchyan indicated that the wreaths and flowers were most likely stolen on the night of December 9, as the burial occurred on December 8. By the next day, the earth mound was completely empty.

This is not the first time relatives in Yerevan have found graves vandalized. Workers at the Karmir Blur cemetery told A. Mkrtchyan's family that they had heard of similar incidents before. Even the flowers from military graves have been stolen.

According to the media, Dustrik Mkrtchyan stated that they have contacted the police in hopes of finding those responsible for the act. She noted that the aim is to prevent such incidents in the future, as desecrating graves in this manner is against our values.
