The Prospects in the Gaza Strip Are Indeed Grim: Borrell

European foreign ministers are preparing to demand that Israel undertake a commitment to establish a humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip during a meeting in Brussels on Monday, said Josep Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy. According to him, the 27 member states will try to achieve a "series of pauses." He noted that a full ceasefire call is impossible due to a lack of consensus.

"The prospects in the Gaza Strip are indeed grim," Borrell stated. "We have said at G7 and other meetings that Israel should not use the same tactics in the south as it does in the north of Gaza, but it is doing just that, in even worse forms. As a result, the number of casualties among innocent civilians continues to rise," he added.
