Civil Cases in the First Instance Will Last Not Years, but Months: New Changes
Starting today, banks, credit organizations, and operators in the energy, water, and telecommunications sectors will submit their applications for the collection of amounts not exceeding 2 million AMD to notaries instead of the courts. This was announced on Facebook by the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Karen Andreasyan.
He added that as a result of this process, the workload of judges will decrease by about 90 percent.
“In other words, judges who currently have 2,000-4,000 cases in civil courts will have 200-300 cases from spring next year (as is the case in developed European countries). Therefore, civil cases in the first instance will last not years but several months starting from mid-2024. This reform took about a year as it required legislative changes, the development of a new computer program, the integration of notary and enforcement service programs, and retraining of notaries. We are grateful to the Government, the National Assembly, the Ministry of Justice, the Judicial Department, and the Notary Chamber for this important reform and tremendous support,” wrote Andreasyan.
