White House Representative Laughs at Putin's Decision to Run in Elections

John Kirby, a representative from the White House National Security Council, stated that the upcoming presidential elections in Russia in 2024 will feature "the kind of competition that is expected." He commented on President Vladimir Putin's decision to run for another term.

"Well, it will be the kind of race that it should be, right? That's all I can say about that," Kirby said with a laugh while responding to a relevant question.

Putin announced his intention to participate in the 2024 presidential elections on December 8. The request for Putin's candidacy was made by the speaker of the Donetsk parliament, Artyom Zhogin, to which the president responded affirmatively.
