El Salvador Begins Selling Citizenship for Bitcoin

The government of the Republic of El Salvador, in collaboration with a private company, has launched a joint program that allows individuals to acquire citizenship in El Salvador for 1 million dollars in Bitcoin.

According to the program's terms, up to a thousand people can participate yearly in the so-called "golden visa" scheme in El Salvador, which allows the holders to later apply for citizenship in the country.

The government anticipates generating up to 1 billion dollars annually from this program, with all funds directed towards economic and cultural development, as well as social programs aimed at improving the standard of living in the country.

It is noteworthy that El Salvador is a small nation in Central America, renowned for its Pacific Ocean beaches, surfing spots, and mountain ranges.
