Arrests Made Following Shooting at Bryansk School

The director of the private security firm "Excalibur" has been arrested in Bryansk. The firm is responsible for the security of Gymnasium No. 5, where a shooting occurred on December 7. This has been reported by RIA Novosti, citing sources in law enforcement.

It is known that the female security guard of the school and the father of the deceased girl have also been arrested. "The General Director of 'Excalibur' LLC, Sergey Poddubny, and school security staff member Galina Chertkova have been arrested, along with the father of the deceased girl, who brought a gun to the school and opened fire on classmates," said a source in the media.

According to the source, the arrests took place in the night of December 7–8, and the investigation into the criminal case is being conducted by the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Recall that according to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bryansk Region, on Thursday, police received reports of a shooting at Bryansk Gymnasium No. 5. One of the female students brought a gun into the school building and fired several shots, injuring five people. The girl subsequently committed suicide.

It was reported that an Armenian teacher saved children during the shooting by shielding them with her body. One of the injured classmates has also died from their injuries. The motives and circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated. Currently, two fatalities and five injured persons have been confirmed. A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident.
