If We Wanted to Occupy Armenian Territory, We Would Do It: They Cannot Resist Azerbaijan, Says Aliyev

Baku is awaiting the establishment of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity not by declarations, but by signatures. This statement was made by the country's president, Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijani media reported this information.

"Our goal is not to occupy Armenian territory," said the leader, noting that Azerbaijan is sometimes accused of this without any basis. "If we wanted to do this, we would. I openly declare this. It is not a big problem for Azerbaijan from any perspective. They laid down their weapons in Karabakh in one day, and our flag was raised in Khankendi (Stepanakert). We do not want to do this. The fact that we are not doing it speaks to the correctness of my stance on this issue," emphasized the president of Azerbaijan.

The country's leader added that France and India, by arming Armenia, are "pouring oil on the fire and creating unrealistic perceptions about the situation in Armenia."

"Armenia may think that by using that weaponry, it can again occupy Karabakh. I am not even talking about the quality of that weaponry. Even if it is the most modern weapons, it is impossible. Because the outcome of the war comes due to people and their spirit. After the second Karabakh war, even Armenia itself declared that they had 12,000 deserters during the war. This means they will not be able to resist Azerbaijan," Aliyev emphasized.
