Muscovites Warned About Abnormal Cold Temperatures

Heavy snowfall has begun in the Moscow region, as promised by meteorologists. According to the Russian Hydrometeorological Center's emergency warning, blizzards, wind gusts of up to 16 m/s, sleet, and downpours are possible in the city and region.

The city's transport authority has already reached out to drivers, asking them to refrain from using personal vehicles whenever possible and to utilize public transport instead. "Be especially cautious when approaching bridges, overpasses, and exits to elevators. Do not get distracted by your phone while driving," the agency stated in its message.

It is clarified that traffic in the metropolis is monitored around the clock by the situation center and 30 road patrol brigades from the road management center.

The bad weather is attributed to a southern cyclone, which is moving from the southwest through Central Russia to the northeast.

Municipal workers in the capital are operating on the streets. The heavy snowfall has caused complications in areas where snow removers are unable to clear the pathways, and there are problematic areas near public transport stops.

Airports in the capital continue to operate as usual. Representatives state that they are continuously clearing snow from runways and taxiways, de-icing airplanes, and engaging anti-fogging devices.

The orange level of weather danger remains in effect in Moscow and the Moscow region, which is the second-to-last level on the color scale for meteorological alerts. It signifies hazardous weather and the potential for natural disasters to cause damage.
