Qatar Highlights Challenges in Restoring Ceasefire Between Israel and Hamas

The Palestinian Hamas movement and Israel continue negotiations to extend the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Qatar's Foreign Ministry, according to TASS.

However, the resumption of Israeli attacks on Gaza in the early hours following the end of the ceasefire complicates the mediation process, the diplomatic agency noted.

On November 22, Israel approved an agreement with Hamas regarding the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip. According to the agreement, Hamas was to release 50 women and children during the ceasefire. Additionally, representatives of the Red Cross were to be allowed to visit the remaining hostages to provide necessary medical assistance.

As stated by Israel's permanent representative to the UN, Gilad Erdan, after the ceasefire ends, Israel will continue to address issues in the Palestinian enclave. Hamas has also expressed its willingness to extend the ceasefire in the conflict with Israel.

However, on December 1, the Israel Defense Forces resumed military operations against Hamas, accusing the Palestinian militant group of violating the terms of the ceasefire. Thus, the humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip has come to an end.
