Iranian Delegation Withdraws from COP-28 Due to Israel’s Presence
The Iranian delegation, led by Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian, has withdrawn from the COP-28 climate change conference taking place in the United Arab Emirates, citing the participation of Israel as the reason for their exit. This information was reported by the IRNA news agency.
Last night, the delegation had arrived in the UAE to attend the conference and had planned to discuss the Palestinian issue with the leaders and representatives of participating countries. The Iranian side maintained confidence that the Israeli delegation would not participate in the conference. However, upon arriving in Dubai—where COP-28 is being held—they were informed that the Israeli president and his accompanying delegation had, in fact, arrived at the conference.
Following this revelation, the Islamic Republic decided to boycott the event in protest against Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip.
