«He Is a Man of His Word and Deed Who Has Brought the Country to Global Power Status»: Nazarbayev on Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin, described as a "man of word and deed," has brought his country back to global power status. This assessment of Russia's president was made by former Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

“A qualitatively new era in Kazakh-Russian relations began with Vladimir Putin’s accession to leadership of the state. Putin established order in the country and reinforced the authority of power. He is a man of word and deed. There is no doubt that Putin’s presidency will go down in Russian history as a special era. His enemies are also aware of this,” Nazarbayev wrote in his published memoirs.

He noted that from the very beginning, he found common ground with Putin. “He has supported all my integration initiatives in the post-Soviet space,” Nazarbayev added. According to him, as heads of state, they have met so often that Putin “once even joked that he would probably register in Kazakhstan.”

“Putin is a man of his word; there have never been omissions or misunderstandings between us. He always and diligently fulfills the promises made to his partners,” Nazarbayev emphasized. At the same time, he pointed out that Putin “can freeze and not restore relations for a long time with those heads of state and people who do not keep their word and do not fulfill their obligations.”
