Electric Vehicles Exempt from Parking Fees in Yerevan's Red Zones, Says Deputy Mayor
Electric vehicles will be exempt from parking fees in the central areas of Yerevan (red lines). This announcement was made by Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan during public discussions regarding an increase in fees for red zone parking.
"Electric vehicles are exempt from this fee and will not be penalized. This is done with the logic of encouraging people to use electric transportation, which has a significant environmental component," said Grigoryan.
He noted that there used to be a procedure requiring individuals to apply to the Yerevan municipality to benefit from this exemption, but that issue has now been resolved.
"The organization monitoring through cameras receives data from the police database, and having that information, there is no longer a need to submit applications. The system operates on an automated basis," he added.
It is recalled that a draft decision to set local tax rates for the year 2024 has been presented to the Yerevan city council, proposing a fee of 160,000 AMD per year for parking in the central district of the city (Yerevan's 'A' zone), while outside the center (Yerevan's 'B' zone) the fee would be 24,000 AMD.
