The Armenian Satellite to Be Launched into Space for the First Time Tomorrow
Tomorrow, on November 29, the Armenian-made satellite "Հայասաթ-1" will be launched into space for the first time in the history of Armenia. There will also be a live broadcast of the event.
The "Հայասաթ-1" satellite will be sent to space from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in the USA using SpaceX's Falcon-9 rocket. The satellite features the inscription: ARMENIA IN SPACE FOR SCIENCE, which translates to "Հայաստանը տիեզերքում` հանուն գիտության."
"Հայասաթ-1" is Armenia's second satellite to be launched into space, and it is the first to be developed and created by Armenian specialists in Armenia.
The satellite was created in collaboration with the "Bazumk" Space Research Laboratory and the Center for Scientific Innovation and Education. It has undergone necessary vibration testing in the Netherlands. Following successful tests, ISISpace provided a license without which SpaceX would not have launched the satellite.
The "Հայասաթ-1" satellite is equipped with sensors that measure the intensity of light falling on its different sides, magnetometers that act as a compass for the satellite, magnetorquers to dampen the satellite's rotation, sensors to measure the temperatures of the most critical parts of various modules, as well as inertial sensors that measure orientation changes.
The satellite also has a secondary payload that will provide data on the satellite's rotations, position, and movement through its measurements. This secondary payload consists of a GPS receiver with its antennas and a prototype inertial measurement unit (IMU) developed and created in Armenia.
