Russia will be able to meet the demand for electric vehicles in the EAEU: Overchuk

Russia will soon be able to meet the demand for electric vehicles in EAEU countries, and the production of such vehicles will also become widespread in other member states. This was stated by Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, during a conversation with journalists.

“During one of our meetings of the EAEU Council, our partners raised the issue of extending the zero import duty on electric vehicles in the EAEU zone. As a result, a month ago we decided to extend it for another two years,” he noted.

Overchuk speculated that when the EAEU revisits this issue in two years, it is quite possible that the zero duty will not be extended.

Today, the next session of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council was held within the framework of the “Russia” conference at the VDNH (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy) in Moscow, chaired by the President of the EEC Council, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk. The meeting was attended by EEC Council members, including Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, Kyrgyz First Deputy Prime Minister Adilbek Kasymaliev, and the Chairman of the EEC Board Mikhail Myasnikovich.
