Result of Imagination: Israel Disbelieved October 7 Bloody Attack Warning
Israel considered the Hamas attack on October 7 to be a result of imagination. Soldiers stationed along the border with the Gaza Strip, who constantly monitored and analyzed footage and data from the enclave, sent a detailed report to the head of intelligence at the Israel Defense Forces' Southern Command several weeks before the attack. This is reported by the Financial Times, citing sources.
Military officials say that the report included warnings of an imminent attack, but a senior officer dismissed the information as a 'fantastical scenario.' The document noted that Hamas was preparing to breach border points in several locations, infiltrate Israeli territory, and capture kibbutzim. Palestinian fighters had also attempted to take hostages. The basis for the service report was the appearance of one of the Hamas leaders, who was monitoring training. He was identified by Israeli border guards through a personal data database, but that did not convince the authorities.
