Yerevan Has Not Yet Responded to Moscow's Invitation: Zakharova
Russia sent invitations to the Armenian side in September, October, and November, offering to hold negotiations both in Moscow and on various multilateral platforms; however, there has been no clear response so far. This statement was made today by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in response to a journalist's question.
A Russian journalist quoted the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, who stated on Public Television that he was not aware of the proposals made by the Russian side regarding a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Yerevan is rushing to conduct negotiations on the peace treaty in Washington and Brussels, even though neither the US nor the EU can be considered honest mediators for a number of reasons,” Zakharova said. She emphasized that their goal is to push Russia out of the South Caucasus region and dismantle existing security mechanisms in the area.
According to Zakharova, they are shamelessly stealing the trilateral agreement reached with the participation of Russia, adapting it to their needs.
“That is why there are no real achievements from their mediation, and there cannot be, because their objectives are different. Yerevan's confidence that the West will assist them has collapsed; it is impossible not to see that,” Zakharova declared.
