Sona Aghekyan: “I Received a Relevant Response to Offensive Remarks Directed at Me”

“Ani Khachatryan, the leader of the Republic faction, approached the podium in an inappropriate manner and insulted me. This was stated by Sona Aghekyan, a member of the Mother Armenia faction, explaining the argument that took place between her and Ani Khachatryan.

“Ani Khachatryan referred to the podium as a stage. The session hall of the city council is not some theatrical place; there is a podium from which political speeches are made. Since 10:00 AM, when the Yerevan city council session started, this individual has assumed the role of the mayor and the lawyer for the other members of the ruling party. She uttered offensive remarks against me and received a relevant response, after which she attacked me,” she detailed.

It is noteworthy that a quarrel erupted during the Yerevan city council session between Ani Khachatryan, the leader of the Republic faction, and Sona Aghekyan, a member of the Mother Armenia faction, which escalated into a fierce fight. Ani Khachatryan called Sona Aghekyan the “queen of sewage water,” hinting at an incident from years ago involving sewage water poured towards former mayor Taron Margaryan by Aghekyan, after which a scuffle broke out between the council members.
