Netanyahu on the Release of Hostages

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that there is progress in negotiations regarding the potential release of hostages held by the Hamas group. This was reported by INTERFAX.RU.

"We have managed to make progress. I hope that good news will come soon," Netanyahu's words are quoted by the Haaretz newspaper.

The publication also notes that against the backdrop of reports about the possibility of an agreement regarding the hostages, the Israeli government will convene a session.

Earlier, Haaretz, citing an informed source, reported that Qatar would announce the details of agreements between the Palestinian Hamas group and Israel regarding the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip.

In turn, the Qatari Foreign Ministry stated that Hamas and Israel are closer than ever to reaching a ceasefire agreement. The Washington Post also reported that Israel, the U.S., and Hamas are close to reaching a deal that would allow for the release of some hostages held in Gaza in exchange for a five-day halt to military operations.
