The End May Be Different, Some May Like It, Others Not: Zelensky
Ukraine cannot afford a "frozen" conflict with Russia; it must be concluded. This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with representatives of African media. The recording of the meeting was posted on Zelensky's Facebook page. This information was conveyed by TASS.
“Listen, let’s sign some Minsk agreements, freeze the conflict,” he said, commenting on one journalist's remarks regarding the possibility of freezing the conflict. “We have reached a deadlock. No one can move anywhere. Let's try to live this way. We all lived in Ukraine, and everyone understood that, nonetheless, this is a war,” Zelensky noted.
The president added that even a frozen conflict would mean losses for Ukraine that would persist for a long time, and the possibility of resuming the conflict at any moment. “We want peace. The end can be different; some may like it, some may not, but it is necessary,” he emphasized.
At the same time, Zelensky pointed out that he would like to see the end of the conflict on Ukrainian terms. Returning to the topic of freezing the conflict, Zelensky added, “We cannot afford, no matter how difficult it may be for us, even such a thought.”
