National Council for the Protection of Minority Rights to be Established: Armenian Human Rights Defender

Currently, work is underway to establish a council for the protection and promotion of the rights of individuals belonging to national minorities under the Defender's office, which also includes representatives of the Jewish community. This was reported by the Human Rights Defender’s staff.

It is noted that Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan today, on November 10, received a delegation headed by Jorge Knoblovits, the president of the Delegación de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas, representing Jewish organizations in Argentina.

"The Defender emphasized the importance of guaranteeing the rights of not only Jews but also individuals from other national minority communities, including the rights to preserve and develop national and ethnic identity, traditions, religion, language, and culture, as well as ensuring effective participation in public life," the statement said.

In this context, Anahit Manasyan noted that work is currently ongoing to establish the council for the protection and promotion of the rights of individuals belonging to national minorities, which also includes representatives of the Jewish community.

During the meeting, the Human Rights Defender presented issues related to the protection of the rights of individuals forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and discussed the results of fact-finding work carried out by herself and her staff in centers conducting primary needs assessments.
