Video: Verdict in the Case of Vagif Khachatryan Announced – What Sentence the Prosecutor Demanded
The prosecutor's office of Azerbaijan has demanded a 15-year prison sentence for Vagif Khachatryan. Azerbaijani media report this.
According to reports, during the court hearing at the Baku military court, the prosecutor demanded a 15-year prison term for Vagif Khachatryan. In his speech, the prosecutor stated that the first five years of the sentence must be served in prison, with the remaining time in a high-security colony.
Khachatryan is accused of “genocide and the displacement of Azerbaijanis,” allegedly committed in December 1991 in the village of Meshali, in the Khojaly region. The 68-year-old Vagif Khachatryan was illegally arrested at the Berdzor checkpoint on July 29 while being transferred to Armenia via the Red Cross for surgery.
It is important to note that Vagif Khachatryan does not plead guilty and denies the accusations.
