Court Proceedings for 68-Year-Old Vagif Khachatryan to Continue Today in Baku

In Baku's Heavy Crimes Court, proceedings will continue today for the detained Vagif Khachatryan. Azerbaijani media reports that he is accused of “genocide and the displacement of Azerbaijanis,” allegedly committed in December 1991 in the village of Meshali, located in the Khojaly region.

It is expected that today the “indictment will be announced, and it will become known what punishment is proposed for him. It should be noted that Vagif Khachatryan does not plead guilty and denies the charges against him.

Recall that 68-year-old Vagif Khachatryan was illegally arrested at the Berdzor checkpoint on July 29 while being transported to Armenia for surgery through the Red Cross.
