Kılıçdaroğlu Defeated: Who is the New Leader of Turkey's Opposition?

The main opposition party in Turkey has a new leader. Özgür Özel has become the new president of the Republican People's Party (CHP).

He replaces Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who held the position for more than 13 years. According to Turkish media, this marks the first change in leadership of the CHP, a major opposition force, in 13 years.

It is worth noting that the former leader has commented on his defeat. “I resign from the presidency at the decision of our delegates. Thank you to all those who have supported our struggle until now,” stated Kılıçdaroğlu. He also congratulated Özel on his victory.
