Gaza Has Become a Graveyard for Children, 940 Missing Under Rubble, UN Reports

Approximately 940 children are reported missing in Gaza. They are likely trapped under the rubble, while around 3,450 children have been killed over the past three weeks.

This was announced by James Elder, spokesperson for the UN Children's Fund, and Jens Laerke, a representative from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, during a press briefing in Geneva.

“According to the latest reports, 940 children are missing in Gaza,” Elder told reporters.

Laerke added that his organization has similar data and emphasized that “it is unbearable to think of the children remaining under the rubble when there is little chance of bringing them out alive.”

According to the UN Children’s Fund, 3,450 children have been killed and more than 10,000 have been injured in Gaza in just three weeks. The organization also reminded that half of Gaza's 2.3 million population is under the age of 18.

“That number is increasing significantly day by day. Gaza has turned into a graveyard for children. It is hell for others. The danger to children is greater than the danger posed by bombs and artillery,” Elder stated.
