Video: Strengthened Oversight on the Preservation of Monumental Buildings' Exterior Appearance

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has cataloged nearly 50 monumental buildings that are privately owned and require proper maintenance.

In June, the ministry sent notifications to the owners of these properties regarding the necessary measures for the proper maintenance of monumental buildings. Additionally, the Yerevan City Council has tightened oversight on the exterior appearance and preservation zones of monumental buildings by decision number 853 N, dated September 12, 2023.

The Mayor reported that Tigran Avinyan expressed a desire to discuss the developments resulting from this tightening in the future, emphasizing that individuals who own monumental buildings must recognize the associated responsibilities. If owners are unwilling to bear that responsibility, they should either relinquish the building or take appropriate measures to restore the monumental property to an acceptable condition.
