VIDEO: What Maps Were Provided to the Parties by the Mediators - Kostanyan

Relations with Russia are not escalating further; it is a normal working process. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan in an interview with NEWS.am, responding to comments that relations with Russia are increasingly tense.

“Partners have questions for each other, we clarify these issues through diplomats,” Kostanyan noted, referring to the recent summons of Armenia’s temporary chargé d'affaires by the Russian Foreign Ministry, and prior to that, the summoning of the Russian ambassador to Armenia by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

Regarding Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's statement that Armenia can try its luck in European platforms if it wishes, but the maps are kept in Russia, Vahan Kostanyan stated: “The maps we are talking about, that is, the maps from the years 1974-1978, do exist, and both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides are familiar with them. These maps have been provided to the parties by various mediators.”

The Deputy Foreign Minister also touched upon Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement regarding the Russian military base and comments by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, as well as interactions in the “3+3” format.
