If Hezbollah Decides to Open a Front in the North, Israel Will Also Strike Iran – Israeli Official
Israel's Minister of Economy and Industry, Nir Barkat, has stated that if Hezbollah decides to open a front in the north of the country, Israel will also strike Iran. This was reported by the Russian service of BBC.
“Iran's plan is to attack Israel on all fronts. If we discover that they intend to attack Israel, we will not only retaliate on those fronts but also strike at the 'head of the snake'—Iran,” Barkat said in an interview with the British newspaper Daily Mail.
“Lebanon and Hezbollah will pay a heavy price, just like Hamas. But this is not enough,” Barkat added, stating, “The very clear signal is that we are also prepared to go after the Iranian leaders. When we will do this? When we decide.”
“Israel has a very clear message for our enemies. We are telling them, 'Look at what is happening in Gaza; you will get the same if you attack us. We will wipe you off the face of the Earth,'” Barkat said.
It is noted that Tehran is the leading sponsor of the radical Shiite group Hezbollah, which controls southern Lebanon and is considered Iran's proxy for exerting military pressure on Israel. Additionally, Iran supports Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and although the Iranian regime officially denies direct involvement in Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, many both inside and outside of Israel do not believe these claims.
