North Korea's Response to US Supplying ATACMS Ballistic Missiles to Ukraine
North Korea has condemned the United States for supplying ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine, stating that any strikes against Russian territory with these missiles will only hinder peace efforts, according to BBC.
“The US, nevertheless, has supplied ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine despite serious concerns and strong protests from the international community,” the North Korean ambassador to Russia said.
The ambassador claimed that the ATACMS will “inevitably be used to strike deep into Russian territory, and no one can deny that.”
Earlier, the Pentagon stated that the missiles would be provided to Ukraine with assurances that this weaponry “will be used within Ukraine's sovereign borders.” This means that the missiles could be launched towards areas occupied by Russia, including parts of the Crimean Peninsula.
It is also noted that earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia would be able to counter the ATACMS missiles, asserting that it would not change the situation on the front line.
