Azerbaijan's Ombudsman Assures That Former Officials of Artsakh Have 'No Complaints About Detention Conditions'
Azerbaijan's ombudsman, Sabina Aliyeva, assures that former officials from Nagorno-Karabakh detained in Baku prisons have "no complaints about their detention conditions," as stated by the Azerbaijani official in response to a question from the Russian TASS agency.
The news outlet notes that Aliyeva is participating in an international conference on human rights in Moscow.
"Within the framework of my mandate, I frequently conduct inspections in penitentiary institutions, and during these visits, I have met with these individuals. They have no complaints about their detention conditions; they have been immediately granted the right to communicate with their families, and they have exercised that right. Legal assistance has also been provided. Some of them are using the services of lawyers hired by their family members, while others are represented by lawyers provided by the state," TASS quotes the ombudsman.
Aliyeva also recalled that "some requested glasses, books in their native language," and noted that "these requests have been fulfilled."
