Metsola on Imposing Sanctions Against Azerbaijan
The European Parliament is a political body and will consistently ensure the implementation of three principles. This was stated by the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, during a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Strasbourg.
She responded to a journalist's question regarding the EU's recent resolution and report on imposing sanctions against Azerbaijan, asking if the European Parliament is preparing to take effective actions in this direction. "It is not coincidental that this parliament has adopted such reports and has called for peace negotiations to begin as soon as possible," she emphasized.
Metsola also expressed support for the fact that a meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev, with the participation of Charles Michel, is scheduled to take place at the end of October. "Peace negotiations are important for us in terms of demarcation with Azerbaijan, opening communication routes, and solving humanitarian issues. The events of the past month are very concerning, which is why we urge for peace and humanitarian protection," she declared.
