Ukraine's counteroffensive has completely failed, said Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with Pavel Zarubin on the "Russia 1" channel’s program "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin," a segment of which was shared by the journalist on his Telegram channel.

Responding to a question about the situation in the zone of the military special operation, the journalist reminded him of the statements coming from Kyiv regarding the slowdown of the counteroffensive.

"As for the counteroffensive, which allegedly has slowed down, it has completely failed," Putin replied.

However, he added that the Ukrainian side is preparing new active offensive operations in certain areas of military operations.

"We see this, we know it, and we respond accordingly," the Russian president stated.

According to him, what is currently happening along the entire line of contact is referred to as "active defense."
