Peskov Comments on Pashinyan's Absence from CIS Summit

Russia does not cease ties with Yerevan; Armenia remains an ally of Russia. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, while commenting on the absence of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from the CIS summit in Bishkek.

“Nikol Pashinyan has his reasons, and we respect that; this does not mean we will stop our communications. We continue our dialogue. Armenia has been and will remain our ally, our neighbor, a country with which we share a common history and a common future. At least for the fact that there are more Armenians living here than in Armenia itself. And it is important for everyone to remember that,” Peskov said.

On October 13, the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State took place in Bishkek. The presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan participated in it.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in a phone conversation with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov that he could not attend the CIS summit in Bishkek due to several circumstances.
