Kerobyan Addresses Concerns Facing Armenian Businesses in Russian Market
Armenian exporters do not face problems in the Russian market. This was stated by the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, during a press briefing, in response to reporters' remarks regarding information that Armenian businesses are encountering issues in the Russian market.
He emphasized that around 40 percent of Armenian goods are exported to the Russian Federation. “Businesses are operating, everything is normal. There is no problem. There’s no queue at the Lars checkpoint. I would like to remind you that since June of last year, following arrangements between me and the Minister of Economy and Economic Development of the Russian Federation, many new routes have been opened at the Lars checkpoint, and processes have been simplified. The issue has only existed for 2 days,” said Kerobyan.
The Minister of Economy also noted that there are no issues related to fuel in the Armenian market. He recalled that the Armenian side had requested an increase in quotas for gasoline and diesel, which has been partially fulfilled. It is worth mentioning that dozens of trucks loaded with brandy had been waiting at the Upper Lars checkpoint since September 25, awaiting the results of an inspection.
