Information is Incorrect: Giloian Responds to Putin
Armenia will host the meeting of the Council of Physical Culture and Sports of the CIS countries in 2024, and Gyumri has been declared the CIS Sports Capital. This was stated by Karen Giloian, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, commenting on the statement made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who expressed hope for the successful holding of the CIS Games in Gyumri next year.
“The information is incorrect. Azerbaijan will host the CIS Games in 2025. Gyumri has been declared the CIS Sports Capital for 2024. I have been elected the president of the sports commission for one year. The forum of the Council of Physical Culture and Sports of the CIS countries will take place in Gyumri, but our guests will also be in Tsaghkadzor and Yerevan. The CIS countries will be represented at the conference at the level of ministers or deputy ministers. Just as Armenia participated in a similar conference held in Tashkent last year,” he stated.
It is worth recalling that earlier we reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin expects the 2024 CIS Games to be successfully held in Gyumri, Shirak Province of Armenia.
