Number of Internally Displaced Persons in Gaza Exceeds 330,000 According to UN Estimates

The number of internally displaced persons in the Gaza Strip, meaning those who have left their homes due to military operations but remain within the country, has surpassed 330,000. This was announced by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

“The mass displacement of the population in the Gaza Strip is continuing. In recent days, the total number of displaced persons has increased by 30 percent, now totaling 338,934 people, with more than two-thirds seeking shelter in schools run by the UN agency for the Middle East,” the UN reported.

Media outlets have reported that a UN Security Council meeting addressing the situation in the Gaza Strip will take place on October 13.
