NATO to Conduct Nuclear Deterrence Exercises
Next week, NATO will hold its annual Steadfast Noon nuclear deterrence exercises in Italy, Croatia, and the Mediterranean Sea. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference in Brussels on October 12.
Stoltenberg stated that the exercises will help ensure "the reliability, effectiveness, and safety of nuclear deterrence, and this is a clear signal that NATO will defend all allies." The exercises will involve air and naval forces from both nuclear and non-nuclear nations within the alliance, facilitating interaction among them during the drills.
According to him, Russia's war against Ukraine serves as a reminder of the crucial role of NATO's nuclear arsenal in deterring aggression.
