People Try to Understand What Will Happen After Nagorno-Karabakh: Kopirkin Visits Syunik Province
A delegation headed by Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin visited Syunik Province to assess the needs of displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh and discuss several pressing issues, including security, the establishment of consulates, and the implementation of social programs with Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan and other local authorities.
In an interview with Sputnik Armenia, the ambassador shared the results of the visit and addressed priority issues. Russia is preparing a significant assistance package for Armenia at both governmental and non-governmental organization levels. According to the ambassador, the parties focused their main attention on the problems facing Syunik Province during the meeting.
The local authorities are particularly concerned about the issues of displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh. The Russian diplomat assessed their efforts as substantial and effective.
“What is happening today in Armenia and Syunik Province is very important for Russia. Armenia and the Armenian people, including the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, are significant to us. They are not strangers. We are closely connected. The situation and the pain that the people are experiencing are understood as our own. No matter what anyone says, Russia is not indifferent to all this and has shown, is showing, and will show through its actions that this is a very important country and people with whom we have built relationships for millennia and intend to continue doing so,” said the diplomat.
Kopirkin assured that the Russian leadership is paying great attention to the issues of Syunik Province and is ready to assist in addressing them, focusing primarily on humanitarian issues. In this regard, the diplomat positively assessed the response of Rossetrudnichestvo to the primary needs of the displaced persons.
