Galuzin on the Future of Russian Peacekeepers in Artsakh
The presence of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh is necessary and will continue to be required in the future. This was stated by Mikhail Galuzin, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister overseeing relations with the CIS countries, in an interview with RBC.
According to him, the issue of further deployment of peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh will be decided by Moscow and Baku through established channels.
“The main question remains how to ensure that those residents of Karabakh who have stayed feel secure. One cannot exclude the possibility that someone who has left Karabakh today might decide to return at some point. The presence of peacekeepers could serve as an additional factor of reassurance for those individuals,” Galuzin said.
