Egyptian Intelligence Warns Israel About Hamas Operation

Concerns over Israel's intelligence failure to anticipate and prepare for the unexpected attack by the Palestinian Hamas movement have gained further prominence after an Egyptian intelligence official revealed that Israel ignored multiple warnings regarding Hamas "preparing something big." This was reported by The Times of Israel.

The official stated that Egypt, which often serves as a mediator between Israel and Hamas, has repeatedly informed Israeli officials about the preparations for "something significant." According to the Egyptian source, Israeli officials were focused on the West Bank and underestimated the threat emanating from the Gaza Strip.

“We warned them that an explosion in the situation was imminent and that there would be a significant explosion very soon. But they underestimated these warnings,” the official told the Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to discuss sensitive intelligence matters with the media.
