Aliyev Demands 8 Villages from Armenia

“It is not a correct approach to mention Azerbaijan in the declaration adopted as a result of the meeting in Granada, in my absence,” said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a phone conversation with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, as reported by Interfax Azerbaijan, citing Aliyev's press service.

“Azerbaijan did not participate in the meeting in Granada due to France's well-known stance. France's plans to supply weapons to Armenia do not serve peace but rather a new confrontation, and if a new confrontation occurs in the region, it will be due to France,” Aliyev said.

Regarding the quadrilateral declaration, Aliyev claimed it would also not contribute to establishing stability and peace in the region, stating that “Armenia keeps 8 Azerbaijani villages under ‘occupation.’”

“Eight Azerbaijani villages are still under Armenia's ‘occupation,’ and it is necessary to ‘liberate’ them,” he added.

During his conversation with Michel, Aliyev also noted that Azerbaijan is currently cooperating with Iran on a project to create a regional transport corridor. Earlier, it was reported that Charles Michel and Ilham Aliyev had a phone conversation.
