Electric Tool Attempted to Puncture Gas Tank: Details on the Explosion in Artsakh
On September 25, a powerful explosion occurred in a gasoline storage facility near the Stepanakert-Askeran highway. So far, no official statement has been made regarding the causes of the incident. This was reported by the Armenian Times.
Various theories are circulating, but they remain within the realm of speculation. Some claim that the explosion was caused by a lit cigarette. Among the local population of Nagorno-Karabakh, there are even suspicions that the Azerbaijani side may have orchestrated the incident, considering that Azerbaijan had sent 30 tons of gasoline and 34 tons of diesel fuel to Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to the media outlet, some new details have emerged regarding the explosion that took place in Nagorno-Karabakh. An employee of one of the local security structures stated that the gasoline provided to the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh for their journey to Armenia was not from Azerbaijan but rather reserve fuel from the Defense Army. The source explained that there was no coordinated process in place, and each individual took the necessary amount of gasoline on their own.
“Gasoline was coming from several places, and there was chaos as people tried to take it quickly and leave. There was also panic since Azerbaijanis were observed on nearby heights. At that moment, one of the residents was trying to puncture the gas tank using a tool, which subsequently caused the explosion,” the eyewitness recounted.
It is worth noting that on September 25, as thousands of Artsakh residents were provided free diesel fuel to reach Armenia in their own vehicles, a tragic explosion occurred in the gasoline storage facility near the Stepanakert-Askeran highway, resulting in hundreds of casualties and injuries.
