Turkish Cargo Ship Collides with Mine in the Black Sea
A Turkish cargo ship has collided with a mine in the Black Sea. The incident occurred on October 5, but details emerged today, as reported by Reuters.
The mishap took place near the coast of Romania, close to the entrance of the Sulina canal. The ship sustained minor damage, and the crew was unharmed.
According to the British maritime safety company Ambrey, "The vessel has dropped anchor to assess the damage." The report notes that the cargo ship anchored in the Danube delta, near the Ukrainian terminal of Vylkove.
At the same time, a source from the Ukrainian government confirmed that the cargo ship had hit a mine, adding that it was likely from World War II.
