18+ VIDEO. Parachutist Dies During Competition in Chechnya

One of the participants in the parachuting sports final of the Russia Cup held at the special forces university in Chechnya has been involved in an accident during a jump. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Goodsky Aviation Training Center.

During the final of the canopy piloting category, a tragic incident occurred resulting in the death of experienced parachutist Dmitry Belyayev, born in 1978, who had over 3,700 jumps. The tragedy happened during the high-speed parachute testing phase,” the press service stated.

It was reported that during the landing, the parachutist miscalculated the maneuver's height, causing him to collide with the water's surface at a vertical speed. “Rescue services were on-site, including a mobile disaster medicine unit. Medical personnel worked to save Dmitry’s life from the very first moments of the collision, but the doctors were unable to save the athlete,” the press service added.
